Empowerment Through Hearing (ETH) is a not-for-profit public service message campaign designed to increase public awareness of the widespread nature of hearing loss. Kathlyn Maguire, founder and president, commissioned author Natalie Garibian Peters to give voice to the statistics that support an alarming rise in hearing loss, specifically among our student population. Through public awareness and education, ETH serves to eliminate the stigma attached to hearing loss. In fact, Abby and Ben are representative of a current trend in hearing loss among people of all ages. Over 30 million Americans have a significant hearing loss. Yet, due to lack of awareness, embarrassment or denial, this simple human condition, if left untreated, can limit the success of our student.
